You could probably mod it yourself if you were so inclined.

I wouldn't try it, though. IIRC it is a different output transformer on one side.

the 50/50 as it is stock can only accept 6L6s, the 2:90 on the other hand can take EL34s without any mods needed. When I received my 2:90 in the mail last year, it had 4 6L6s and 4 EL34s. Fuck that I put in 8 fresh 6L6s and tore the roof off the place

Interested... got any pics of the back so I can see how everything goes together? since mesa doesn't make them anymore, I can't find a decent shot of them.

My current setup is running an E530 for gain and a Pod for clean, and Ideally I'd like to run them into a power amp L/R, bridge it to mono, and then run it through a mono cab (because mine's mono)

If I WERE to pick up this power amp (Considering it, just got my bonus), would I have to rewire my cab to 8ohm stereo and do it that way, or could I run the 8ohm outs on both sides into a splitter (reversed) and send that into the 16ohm cab return?

If I were to do the former, what kind of volume difference are you looking at using only 2 speakers? I ask because I'm going up against a Triple rectifier through a 4x12, and I don't know if 50w through 2 12s will be able to match a triple running pretty hot without straining the output tubes.

sorry for all the questions, I've just never run a rig in stereo, and I don't feel like rewiring my cab unless I can do with it what I *think* I can do, and it will work right for me.

When nothing less than second-best will do.

The back of the Mesa 50/50 has two inputs, and it has two sets of outputs. 2 8ohm outputs, and 4 4ohm outputs.

If your cab is set for 16 ohm, it can take up to 16 ohm, so running one 8 into it would work. You would just need to have the second Mesa channel off by turning the volume to zero and the presence all the way up.

From my experience though, the best way to run a 4x12 cab if it's the only cab you're running, is to run two 4ohm outputs from the power amp to the cab. That way if you want to run a second cab, you can do the same way and both cabs would be stereo then.

No reason to rewire a cab, it will accept the power amp just fine and the E530 is a badass preamp that will work well with it.

also for anyone reading this, I'd also be interested in trading this for a Mesa Rectifier Recording preamp. I'd also throw in some cash to sweeten the deal if anyone wants to take me up on that. I know the rectifier pres have been going for about $660 on ebay right now.

Why do deals like this always come up when I've been spending money like a mad whore?!

We're all musicians, still searching for our roots.
