Honestly, I'm surprised it went to someone not even remotely associated with Hollywood. The Academy must have done some case study or focus group and discovered that NOT giving him the award would cause some sort of huge backlash. It's not like they are actually capable of recognizing talent.

I was also pleasantly surprised. I thought he definitely deserved it, he's incredible. And, probably my favourite acceptance speech of the night too :yesway:
Did anyone catch his acceptance speech at the Screen Actors Guild where he won the same award? It was a bit ...not awkward but I felt kind of uneasy when listening to it for some reason.
