I haven't had internet access at home for several years, but recently I've been able to get online via some unknown neighbor's wireless connection. That connection has become less reliable for some reason (it says I'm connected, but web pages do not load) and it has become frustrating to the point I'm considering getting my own connection.
The primary reason I'm looking for internet access is to play Go (deceptively simple and addictive board game) and to read forums. This in mind, I don't see the need for anything more than dial-up. I did some research on the net, and, as usual, got a lot of conflicting and outdated information. So, can anyone recommend me a reliable, inexpensive ISP?
(...or better yet...help me figure out why the neighbor's wireless is "connected" but not loading pages)
Well, first off I gotta say;
1) Your neighbour is an idiot.
2) I don't really condone "piggy backing" but given #1 it's tough to blame you.
3) Dial up sucks.
Okay, that out of the way....have you by chance added any new wireless phones to the household? Or has the neighbour? One of my wireless phones will kill my wireless connection every time. I've heard that just having excess wireless devices, such as baby intercoms/phones/etc, can cause wireless connection issues.
