So, I've got three HDD's in my existing machine, that I'd like to plug into some external thing, which can then USB itself into a Mac. A buddy of mine at work says that such a device exists, and you can literally just plug the drives into this thing.
However, he's on vacation, and won't be back for a couple weeks to tell me more . Anyone know WTH he was talking about?
Would it be easier to actually set up a server with my tower, and get a wireless thing for an incoming MBP?
I don't know about a big mass external hard drive, but you could build a NAS (Network Attached Storage) box pretty cheap. Basically just build a cheap ass system, slap a NIC and a shit ton of hard drives in it. I actually hear Windows Home Server makes a bad ass NAS box, but there's a bunch of free Linux distros that do it as well.
