So I was browsing DeviantArt like I usually do (once a day or so) left the window on, took a shower, and came back to find this program called "AV.exe" posing as my Microsoft Security Center (Unregistred version) and trying to get me to download a program to fix all these "infections."
I closed the windows it kept throwing at me, ran Ad-Aware and HouseCall and rebooted, at which point a Boot Cleaner screen came up before Windows booted and said it had successfully deleted "AV.exe."
However, my computer can't seem to figure out how to run .exe files anymore! It asks me what application I want to use to open them... but I can use the "Search the Web to find a program to open them with" to bring up Firefox (thus how I'm writing this now.) This makes me believe that whatever's going on is reversible somehow.
Clicking on anything in the Control Panel brings up the error message "C\WINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe - Application Not Found."
Any tips/tricks/hints? Do I just have to bite the bullet and reformat?
