Short version - the Blackberry Curve 8330 is a steaming pile of unreliable shit.
Long version - I got a blackberry at the urging of a coworker of mine, after more or less destroying my phone on election night '08. That one lasted until June, when mid-rehearsal for my buddy's wedding somehow the keypad died on me. THAT one lasted until October, when I don't remember the exact situation, but the same thing happened and the keypad stopped responding. That one just died on me last night, when (just to vary it up a bit) the keypad went from working perfectly, not responding at all, and typing "t" or "q" and randomly capitalizing letters, more or less at random. I've got another one in the mail due in tomorrow, which I expect to last util maybe July, given past experience.
Thank god I insured it (at $500 a pop, I can't afford to keep replacing these myself), and thank god Verizon has actually been really cool about it so far - one of the dudes there knows me by face by now, and generally what happens is I go in and whoever I'm dealing with is offering to ship me a new one within 2 minutes of my walking in the door.
I just wish the Blackberry didn't suck so much.
My friend went through six (6!) in less than a year - needless to say, i changed my mind about getting one right away.
They seem to be the Sony Ericcson of the smartphone world.
