Now many nations are talking about putting import tariffs on Chinese goods, Mainly because they are playing too many games with the value of their currency.
They might fight westernization but at some point things are going to change in China. As the country becomes more modernized and the citizens become more educated there will be larger and larger numbers of people dissatisfied with the status quo demanding changes...
Google pulling out is really just a marketing ploy. Despite having the motto Do no Evil, if they could rake in the profits in china that they do in other countries they would still be there. They balanced the loss in revenue with free PR. To me by pulling out they are basically saying hey we are the good guys, we have your best interests in mind in everything we do , and you should continue using our products with confidence.
