Ok so I bought a computer not to long ago and the HDD took a dump on me the other day it was running windows and I know that there is no way to get my win7 install off of the drive. I dont have the extra cash to go out and get a new HDD right now but I had remembered hearing that I could run a Linux system off of a jump drive so I downloaded and installed Ubuntu 9.10 on to an 8GB jump drive I had laying around.
So now a few questions:
Is there anything I need to do to make sure this system keeps working for a while?
Can I get flash? (for hulu)
The system specs are
AMD 64bit sempron single core
On board everything else (video, sound, etc.)
Ubuntu has a great wiki set up for its use, I'd recommend using that.
Unfortunately, whether or not you have major driver support for your hardware is kind of a 'luck of the draw' thing, as they can't code for every bit of hardware out there.
No idea about Flash; it's been a long time since I had to do anything with Ubuntu, and that was just basic "Does it install? Does it recognize the chipset, networking, and video drivers?"
