Well, my HTC Dream has pretty much shit the bed. I think it's partially from being in my shorts pocket at work outside in dusty conditions, but it's just pissing me off. I have a cracked screen and I don't care. My text messages don't always send or get received, I press the answer button approximately 10-20 times before (and if) it responds, and the load time for any function is getting atrocious.
What I use my phone for:
- Incoming and outgoing calls (hey, some people just text)
- Taking pictures (sometimes - a nice cam doesn't hurt)
- Browsing the web
- Checking email (when that function used to work..)
- Blackberry 8900
- iPhone 3G
- Sony Xperia X1
I can find both these phones refurb at $230 for the Blackberry, $200 for the iPhone (out of stock) and $250 for the Sony (out of stock).
I don't own an iPod, it was a trend I avoided. I own a sony mp3 player that does pretty much the same thing as a 4GB iPod would, no worries. I also just saw that the sony has just as good a camera, better screen resolution, better standby - at a bit of an upcharge, and a bit of a wait (can't purchase until it's in stock). I may try Kijiji as well, but the online store has a 30 day warranty.
All these phones pretty much have the same features at the same price point. I just don't want a phone that is going to start going screwy in 6 months.
I only know one person with the Sony, and his hasn't screwed up - friends blackberry's and iphones have.
What do you guys think?
Well, the Blackberry 8900 isn't 3G, so web browsing on that would be slow as hell. The iphone and X1 are both fairly out of date though, but between the two, i'd get the iPhone as the X1 is running WinMo.
