I currently have a 320GB western digital mybook external harddrive for the last several years & I'm looking to upgrade. I use a fireware cable connection.
I'm looking for a 1-2TB capacity for under $200. I was at bestbuy yesterday & saw a lot of the current external hard drives they have had no firewire port & instead had either USB 2.0 & now 3.0. Is firewire outdated? Is USB 2.0 or 3.0 better?
Anyway, through out some suggestions please as I'm all ears.
And if it matters, I have a desktop comp running 64-bit Windows 7.
I'm running a WD MyBook with FW800. Runs great. FW400 > USB2.0, so unless you have USB3.0 on your desktop, any firewire will be faster, whether you run FW800 to FW800, or FW800-->FW400 via cable.
