I downloaded this yesterday because I have been using Rainmeter, and while it has some very sleek stuff, it can be a bit glitchy at times. At this point i'm running both Google Desktop and Rainmeter at the same time for different things. Google Desktop is pretty awesome accept for the stupid search bar that is always on top of ANY window you have open. If there was a way to stop it from doing that, I would be Very happy with it. It also has a very cool feature that if you press ctrl twice, you can search Google and/or your computer immediately without any web browser or anything open.....and that itself is reason enough that I don't need the damn search bar on top of everything.
Here's a screen shot.... see that little white search bar on the bottom left? That fucker really pisses me off.
Here's a breakdown of whats what
Music Player (pretty awesome, it shows only the album cover until you hover over it, which then the controls immediately slide in)
Youtube (plays videos straight on my desktop, though for this I wish there was one that had two separate parts, a video window that was Only the size of the video with no border (to put in the middle of my desktop) and a small search bar with text only results just for youtube.
Notepad (just a convenient little note pad to keep up with phone numbers and such I need)
RSS Feed (just looks awesome, you hover over a topic and it shows the full title, and you can click on each title to bring up the actual article)
CPU meter (this thing is just awesome, monitors my quad core processor perfectly)
Neither one take up much CPU usage either, which is a big plus. However I do kill both of them, and my rocket dock before I do any recording.
Google, trying to make windows accessible and useful (like Macs) since 1998.
