So my original unibody MBP15" is being semi-retired, to be put into service as a spare loaner, as well as a demo machine for people interested in making the switch at work.
It's kinda bitter sweet, because I'm the sort of nerd that gets somewhat sentimentally attached to computers; I still have the case, motherboard, and CPU to the first computer I ever built.
That being said, here's the specs of the new one:
Core i7 2.2Ghz
Radeon 6750 w/ 1GB of RAM
500GB 7.2K RPM HD
Standard res screen (unfortunately)
I couldn't eek out the higher res screen, because I was already pushing my luck with this one. I was going to skip the 15" altogether, but I wanted the graphics power because A. I need to be able to test builds of a 3D engineering/imaging app we develop, and B. because a bunch of us play TF2, Portal 2, and CS:S at lunch.
Yes, we still play CS:S. It's not a great game anymore in terms of graphics, but it's still a lot of fun with a bunch of guys on lunch break, all in the same room.
That's the one I wanted to get, but reality dictated that I could only afford the base model.
The only problem with CS-S is when people confuse the lack of good graphics with a lack of playability.
