Well, I got a CPU, RAM, Mobo and temporary cooler Currently running a 1st gen AMD Phenom X4 2.2GHz, 4GB DDR2 OCZ Reaper X, and an Asus Crosshair with the stock cpu cooler. Today, I upgraded the these
Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor - Retail [BX80623I52500K]
MSI Z68A-GD65-G3 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-15000C9 1866MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9) [CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9]
Akasa AK-CCX-4002HP Venom CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1155/LGA1156/LGA1366/AM2/AM3) [AK-CCX-4002HP ]
The fan apparently goes right down to just over 6dB when not under load!
I don't plan on keeping the cooler long, as I'm W/C'ing up in this bitch, but this is the start of Project Skyrim, which in turn, is interim to Project Doom 4
Once I get the waterloop in, I'm hoping to get this to 5GHz. Next, PSU, GFX, and SSD.
And apparently the mobo is Ivybridge compatible. Win!
Fuck, makes my machine look very inadequate. Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 2.33Ghz, 2Gb ram, Nvidia GForce 7600GS with (I think) 512mb ram. I bought this lot before my eldest was born, so it's at least 4 years old.
That cooler would fit my system though, might help kill the electrical noise on my recordings.
