Hey guys, I want to leave a quick review for my favorite Bluetooth headset, and then ask for your personal recommendations/warnings regarding devices you've owned. I'm happy with my unit () but need to get a more standard mono headset with great call quality/noise filtering for the woman.
I use the Altec Lansing Backbeat (by Plantronics), which is a stereo headset that wraps around the back of your head. It's a little funny looking, but has stereo music capability (sounds great for what it is), adjustable earbud things to direct the sound properly into your brain, and voice control.
It also has good call quality/noise filtration. There could very well be better headsets for overall call quality, but reviews that I've read corroborate with my experience: people don't usually know that I'm on Bluetooth. Road noise is rarely an issue, and it's the thing that bugs me about most headsets.
I've been abusing my set for the last 2 years and it's still kicking. My friend has the same set and had an issue with his power button after a while, but he just has to mash it really hard to power up/power down. The neck bit is very flexy and allows you to chuck the headset into a bag without worrying about it.
I have the model 903, which is worth every penny of $50 on Amazon. The 906 model goes for $75 and is the same thing with a bundled Bluetooth dongle for attaching to non-Bluetooth audio sources... cool, but most of us don't need that. Requires Bluetooth 2.1 EDR to receive stereo audio.
There's mine, now show me yours.
Models I'm looking at include the Plantronics Voyager Pro+ ($65), Jawbone ERA ($90), and the Motorola Finiti ($60).
