I ordered the cheap Roku, i've got netflix and hulu rather than cable. But I noticed I can download the Boxee software for free, and buy the (awesome) remote for $34 and it will work with my PC. The only downfall(s) i've seen is 1) I'd have to run an HDMI cable to my pc rather than having the wireless Roku, and 2) I don't have a minimac or anything to use just for my media, so the PC that I use often would be used as the media box.... with that, the TV would see everything i'm doing and in order to watch Hulu or something, I could not also be browsing the web...correct?
I think I would like Boxee a bit better, just for the awesome remote and it can do a lot more than the cheapest Roku, which is only 720p and only does streaming channels..I discovered the one I got apparently won't let you play media from your PC. Is there anyway to remedy at least the second issue without buying a Minimac or something?(really don't have the $$ for that) I'f I could fix that, then I wouldn't mind running an HDMI cable through the ceiling.
*edit* Would one of the little ASUS thumbdrive sized Wifi adapters work, my tv does have a USB input?
