I also will frequently use Hiren's Boot CD
(there's a copy of kon-boot on it, which is nifty for local account password resets as well as Mini-XP with the standard anti-malware loadout). I still prefer Linux, but the ability to do things from a Windows-based boot disk is kind of cool.
Something that did make it into my kit a while back was a copy of Helix Forensic Response
. I dunno if you can still find it easily since it did go law-enforcement only and then subsequently went commercial a while back. Excellent file recovery utilities on there.
Unfortunately, despite knowing how to use all of those things, I'm not able to use them at work because they're not considered certified software. Instead I get to send shit off to the fucking "file recovery" techs who have a success rate of like fucking 25%
