I know I could snag a real projector for cheap, but I have a reason for going with an old overhead projector. I'm going to attach an LCD screen to it, so it projects from a PC, however I don't want it to be a solid image...which is where I need help.... I am not sure what material to use to hide parts of the image, and also not sure what to use to protect the LCD screen and such since this will be potentially used at live shows.
Here's a picture of the concept:
Basically, it displays one large image, but parts are blocked out so it looks like a bunch of random sized screens. The plan is to have it behind our drummer, projected on the wall behind him so it hopefully doesn't mess with or get messed with by stage lights.
I was thinking black plastic or something, but I don't want anything that is going to get too hot and melt from the LCD screen....nor do I want something that will damage the LCD.
1) Overhead projectors suck.
2) The LCD screens that overlay overhead projectors suck.
