I'm about to purchase some more RAM for my PC and thought i'd ask for some suggestions. I plan to order a 2x8gb set and then order another identical in a few weeks so I have 32GB total. I've looked at a few but I keep coming back to these two for the prices and they seem to have gotten very good reviews.
G.skill Aries (but does RAM really need a heat sink??)
Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-1333C9D-16GAO
Corsair $79.99 ($5 off coupon code)
Newegg.com - CORSAIR 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 Desktop Memory Model CMV16GX3M2A1333C9
Which of these could I get the most performance out of, specifically for recording purposes, but I do use this PC for general use and gaming (counterstrike source, forsaken world, starcraft II, nothing super graphic intense).
Also, is it a bad idea to order two identical sets rather than just ordering a 4x8GB kit? I'd think as long as I order the exact type of memory it will be fine.
Windows 7 64x
AMD Phenom II X4 910 Processor
Not sure of my motherboard and such, but will edit with those asap.
You should be fine with two identical sets.
I have no experience with G-Skill, but Corsair is a longstanding known good brand.
I personally don't pay attention to the timing, just the capacity and compatibility with my motherboard.
