Just wondering if anyone here has experience with either of these phones. I've had a T-Mobile/HTC G2 for the last couple years, and it's starting to get a bit slow and glitchy, and it's about time for an upgrade anyway. The Relay and Blaze look like the most logical next steps to me. The physical keyboard isn't a major factor here (although I do like it better than the one on my G2 which I use extremely rarely), the main thing is the size. It needs to fit comfortably in a shirt pocket. Both are slightly taller and wider than my G2, but both are thinner and lighter.
Before anyone suggests them - the Galaxy SII is a little too big, so that's out. The SIII is even bigger, so definitely a no-go.
I had the opportunity to play with both yesterday, along with the GSII and Nexus 4, and I've played around with the GSIII a few times. I like both phones...they feel pretty similar in terms of the interface, even though the Blaze had Gingerbread and the Relay had ICS. The main difference as far as that goes is the button layout. Also, the layout of the stock dialer on the Blaze is a little weird. For the most part, all of the other little things look like things that would be easy to change with free apps that I already use on my G2.
The Relay is spec'd slightly higher than the Blaze, is about 6 months newer, and $50 more.
I work for t-mobile - go with the blaze
