I bought a new desktop PC last year with the idea of having a computer that could handle the task of recording music and maybe a little gaming. It came with Windows 8 which at first I wasn't too fussed with but I got used to it.
Recently I've gotten annoyed with it as Microsoft are now charging $99.99 a year for the Office Suite programs. To me this seems like complete horseshit. I'm not prepared to pay that price year after year especially since I only had to pay £69.99 once when using Windows 7.
I've tried using LibreOffice as an alternative but it's not particularly good at opening programs that you would use say, Excel to view and adjust.
Is there any software alternatives?
I'm also considering getting a friend to do a clean install of Windows 7, though is it something I could do myself?
If you're looking for a good Microsoft Office substitute, I really like Open Office.
