I can't keep up with technology anymore, especially with how branded and specific things are getting. What's the deal with stuff out there now? Anything new just come out? Anything coming up? Reliability issues?
I'm still using a laptop I got over 8 years ago, and although it actually still works alright for most of what I need to do, I wouldn't mind getting something else. There are actually some things I'd like to do that I can't do with this one due to the hard drive size (offline file sync, etc.). I think I paid about 4 grand for this one, and about that for the previous one, and just about every other one before that, so I guess that's where I'm going with this one.
I'm pretty partial to Dell, and we just got another one about a year ago that seems to be a pretty damn fine machine.
I really have no idea about pricing and technologies anymore, so fire away. I don't mind paying more to have something that will last a while.
Wait until the PC laptops get the Haswell chips, then buy. The battery life is significantly better, even though performance will be roughly the same.
BTW, if you're a man of discerning taste, the retina MacBook Pros should be updated in a month or two.
