Got word back from my computer tech yesterday that my laptop isn't worth the fix, and that the money would be better put towards a new computer. This is pretty devastating to me, as 100% of my income comes from me working on my laptop. I'll be borrowing a friends pc for now while I finish up all the work I have on my plate, but once that work is finished it'll be time for a new comp.
Now, I've been a pc user my whole life, but since I'll be moving to Arizona soon to work at a studio that strictly uses Macs I'm considering making the switch. Thing is, I have ZERO idea where to start when it comes to apple products. This is where you fine fellows come in. I need something powerful enough for recording (so I'm assuming a desktop of some sort), but I'd also like to stay within a budget of ~$2,000, and preferably less if possible. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Also, since every day I spend getting used to a new OS and new programs is a day spent not making any money, how difficult is it going to be for me to jump from all of my pc programs straight over to Mac programs and continue my music-related work? I currently write music for bands and various artists using fl studio, reason, and reaper. Will it be possible to quickly jump into similar programs on a Mac?
Thanks for you time and help, dudes, as always.
Which programs do you currently use on Windows?
Do you prefer laptops or desktops? MacBooks are powerful as hell.
