Today I said goodbye to my iPhone 5. It was a completely fine phone (although I bought it at a terrible time, right before the 5s came out), but it turned out to be one of the ones recalled for a bad battery. It worked fine for a year and a half, and by the time I started noticing the battery acting up, I was having some other problems, mostly with charging and the Lightning port. It was gonna cost at least $100 to fix my phone before I could even get the battery replaced, so I just upgraded. Dawn and I have been meaning to get on a better plan for a while anyway, and they were able to cheat the system a bit at work and get us on a stupid cheap plan.
We'd been thinking about upgrading, until my phone stopped charging and died in the middle of the night before Boxing Day. I woke up in the middle of the night and caught it, so I didn't sleep through my shift that day, but it would have gotten me fired on the spot if I had, so I didn't want to take any more chances.
I mainly went with the Plus for the stabilized camera. I shoot on my phone a lot, and it's supposed to be a little bit better overall IIRC, and sometimes I shake like a crackhead so the IS is a godsend. Other than that, I was curious about the size and figured I'd give it a shot. I'm liking it so far.
The display is amazing, too. It's so big and vibrant, and I like the extra space I have on the keyboard now. I picked up my five a couple hours later to manually move a couple contacts over, and it felt like a toy. I'm slightly blind, too, so this phone is easier to read without me having to turn on the grandma text enlargement.

I found the 6+ too unwieldy so I went for the 128gb iPhone 6. But welcome to the club brother.
