HDTV Bias lighting

Have any of you guys heard of this or used any of these kits? Is it complete bullshit or is it actually better for your eyes/picture quality?

There are some pretty cheap, but well-reviewed units like http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007TG5EG8/?tag=kinjadeals-20&ascsubtag=23e67cd0d78336e3e4da0a68266dd25edfbbe 413&rawdata=%5Br%7Chttp%3A%2F%2Ffeedly.com%2Fi%2Fm y%5Bt%7Cmod-title%5Bp%7C1680854615%5Ba%7CB007TG5EG8%5Bau%7C572 7177402741770316]this one and I'm wondering if it's something worth looking into, or total snake oil.

The consensus I've heard is that it's cool but not necessary.
Too much focus leads to tunnel vision
Too much faith leads to religion
Too much knowledge leads to confusion
Too many guitar lessons lead to jazz-fusion
