Hey guys, the fiance really wants a nice camera and her birthday is coming up shortly, so mysteriously, and for unrelated reasons, I am looking for a DLSR for her.
I don't have a ton to spend right now (buying a house and we have a wedding coming up). Maybe $300? Other than the tripod, I need the whole setup (enough to get started at least). Shouldn't need anything too crazy re: lenses, just for some general use (parties etc). Used is totally fine. Only other requirement is it has to be able to take decent video (read: noticably better than my nexus 5 lol). What's my best option here, or should I just get her some other stuff?
You could pick up a Canon 550D with its kit lens for that sort of money quite easily. Alternatively, the Nikon D3200 with a kit lens should be doable, too. Both are great starter cameras and shoot great video and stills. The Canon does better video in tougher situations, but the Nikon has (imo) slightly better buttons and menu UI.
