Back to Fallout 3 after FO4

After spending about 80 hours into FO4 I decided to actually play the FO3 GOY edition I bought long ago and never played.

Finding FO3 much harder. The constant degradation of weapons and armor was killing me and my caps so I downloaded a mod to prevent that. REALLY helps.

The games are very similar, I feel like I've got a bunch more FO4 to play but without settlement building and the load times are nearly nonexistent. I hear New Vegas is better than FO3 and I have that too.

Go back if you didn't do FO3!! I'm kinda glad I blew it off until now.

    I loved FO3. Couldn't get into NV.

Me and Chris are kind of in the minority on this issue.

I love Fallout 3. I think Fallout: New Vegas is a good game but grossly over-hyped. I have a lot of friends who think NV is way better than Fallout 3 and a lot of people online seem to think so too, but I'm much more a fan of Fallout 3.

I actually like Fallout 3 better than Fallout 4... and Fallout 4 is one of the few games where I have gotten 100% of the achievements. I think I got like 95% of them on Fallout 3. I think one or two of them were just too annoying.

I love RPGs and could never get into Fallout 3. Put about 15-20 hours in on F3 on the Xbox back in the day, just didn't appeal to me, but I know I'm in the vast minority of gamers on this one.

I couldn't get into FO3. And FO4 was just more FO3. Don't like either game.

My character has almost reached level 71 on Fallout 4, though to be honest, it's not me who is doing most of the playing, but friends of mine, I play the nice and easy missions and quests, and leave the hard stuff for my hardcore gamer friends.

But I agree with the OP, I found Fallout 3 to be a far superior game in terms of game play and difficulty, even New Vegas, you suffered from things like sleep deprivation, damaged extremities became useless so if your shooting arm was too damaged you couldn't shoot and neither could the enimies, ammunition had weight so you actually had to think about what weapons and how much ammo to carry on quests on the harder difficulties - right now I'm carrying over 200 nukes and they weigh nothing that's not counting the 10,000 plus 9mm rounds or shotgun shells and .50 caliber rounds. It really does feel like Fallout 4 has been dumbed down by quite a lot in some areas.

    NV > 3 > 4 for me.

The characterisations, dialogue and stories in NV just win, imo. I love 3 and think 4's ok, but NV is a good candidate for my favourite game (maybe after deus ex and the firaxis x-coms).

And as far as fun builds go:
    Shotgun surgeon (Shotguns penetrate DT)
And stay back (Shotgutns send things flying)
    Implant GRX (slow time)
Chemist (Make slow time last longer)

    Much, much fun.
