My wife has this awesome little laptop we scored for about $400 about 9 months or so ago. Recently, I noticed while there are 4 USB ports on the computer, there's no firewire plug. Along with that, there is no PCMCIA slot as well, so I am at a loss when it comes to getting something external. The only expansion slot I can see on the computer is just a SD card reader.
Compaq's website reads like stereo instructions, and I don't know if there's something that can be added on one of the bottom panels or what. The computer is a Presario F700, and I was wondering if any of you know of a way I can get firewire support on this computer, or if it's a lost cause.
You might be able to get a USB 2.0 to Firewire converter. However, you would likely lose some bandwidth in the process.
Sadly, Firewire is mostly defunct these days in a lot of applications as the USB 2.0 standard can nearly equal it in throughput and has a much wider adoption base.
