Just picked this up, so far seems pretty slick. Kind of a GTA style open world game with a good focus on combat and a shitton of slick abilities.

Only a couple of missions in so far, but I dig it.

From what I read in another thread, Vince felt the exact opposite way

I played it a while back(back when I had a modded console), I loved it, very fun game. I'll eventually purchase it, I really want to finish it.

Prototype is simply an ugly unfinished game. Have fun with the boss fights, Chris. They don't make any sense and your character will be almost impossible to control.

If they had spent 6 months to a year more on development, it could've been a special game, but as they released it, it's just plain horrible.

Oh, and I LOVE Ninja Gaiden

That was my issue with NG. The hardest boss was the fuckin' camera.

I know people do not like the camera in Ninja Gaiden, and it was actually better in Ninja Gaiden than Ninja Gaiden 2 simply because most of the fights in the first game were in wide open arenas instead of tight corridors like the second game, but I've seriously never had a problem with the camera in the game. Also, you got stuck at the bossfight in the sewers, right? The silvery face snake thing, right?

It's too bad you gave up so early, you'd have loved the second half of the game. Naked women covered in blood, fighting minotaurs and wolfmen in hell, demons raining fire down on you, rivers of blood, blood raining from the skies, I mean it's one of the most metal fucking games there is, and I'm surprised you gave up so soon!

I wouldn't say that I "got stuck". I tried it 2-3 times and honestly the entire game up to that point wasn't doing it for me so I just shelved it in lieu of something more fun. The biggest gripe that I had was the wall running. If you play Darksiders, you'll see how it should have been done - if they did it the way that Vigil did, NG would have been 500% less aggravating.

If you can honestly say you went through the whole game without jumping the wrong way because of the camera controls, you're apparently much more comfortable with the way they do it than 99.99999% of other gamers out there.

Ninja Gaiden II (xbox360) reviews at Metacritic.com

Quote:
One of the biggest gripes of Ninja Gaiden on the Xbox – which was solved in a later remake on the PS3 – was the camera: it didn’t have analog stick control. Although in Ninja Gaiden 2 you can, it’s a constant struggle against the camera as it tries to retain the default angle

However, it's not all good. The camera actively hates you. With a passion, actually. The number of times it moves behind a wall just as three fiends are about to jump makes one wonder whether it was bad design or deliberate sadism

Sadly, this introduction also serves to introduce you to the worst thing about Ninja Gaiden 2: its camera. Put bluntly, it sucks, and you'll spend just as much time fighting with it as you will with spider ninjas and werewolves

"This isn't a problem with it getting caught on a corner occasionally, nor the odd confusing switch of perspective. It is a constant problem: obscuring foes, breaking up combos, losing track of Ryu, and flicking back and forth between positions.
And the most dead-on.

If the full game is anything like the demo, then the camera still sucks ass.

I actually love the wall running in Ninja Gaiden

Don't think I don't know where you're coming from though. When I first bought Ninja Gaiden back in 2004 when it came out, I was really frustrated by the wall running and combat system. It wasn't until I played Prince of Persia which had a watered down version of the same kind of wall running that I got it. When I went back to Ninja Gaiden, I was running walls like a madman

You don't have to post articles about the camera, I remember the reviews. Mind you, even with the camera system, most of those reviewers still gave the game a score higher than 8 out of 10. It's an awesome action game and IMO the best one I've played.
