I'm running Ubuntu right now on my Netbook. I also have XP on this machine too. XP kills Ubuntu in battery life and software - but the overall experience on Ubuntu for me is much more enjoyable on this netbook than XP is. I like having two workspaces (because I'm used to having 2 monitors), and the notification applet that tells me when I have new twitter posts, new facebook posts, and IMs is nice because everything routs through the same notifications. I still prefer using windows 7 on the desktop, but really enjoy Ubuntu on the netbook.

...But as I said, if they could get that extra hour or two of battery life XP has over it, it'll be perfect.

You shake your ass but you're already dead.

How to Get Virtual Desktops on Windows XP - the How-To Geek

Hoping this is current, you can get multiple desktops on XP... Even if that's not, there are still ways, just google... Use Digsby, and you'll get those notifications you're looking for for Facebook, Twitter, and you'll also get IM... Or use Digsby for Facebook and Tweetdeck for Twitter, either way.

I kinda figured there was SOME way to add the features into Windows, because you can do damn near anything in it - But I just like the fact that Ubuntu does it right out of the box. Though I think Windows 7 has workspaces - though I never use it because I have dual monitors on the desktop. I'd like to get Win 7 for this thing too, though.

Thanks for the links, i'll mess around with it on here and see how I like it.
