Default Plex + Roku = Down to 1 Mac Mini

Roku's Plex channel is the goods.

I had 3 Mac Minis until today, but was able to eBay the two older ones and replace them with Roku 2 XS's for $199, and pocket $600 from the Macs. Since Roku can pull from Plex Media Server, all I have to do now is turn on my "main" HTPC Mini and either one (or both) can pull from it.

Awesome stuff. Plus, the Roku is tiny - you can double-stick tape it to the back of your TV, and it uses about 1 watt of power.

Everyone should own one of these.

If you want the widest variety of content, go with Roku.
If you're already committed to the Apple platform--iTunes, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad--you'll probably be more comfortable with an Apple TV.

I am Very pleased with my Roku. I couldn't get Plex working but with Netflix, Hulu, and all the free channels I have plenty to watch.

The only complaint I have is only being able to scroll left and right through the channels on the home screen. If they'd allow you to go up and down as well it would be a little faster...or is this only because I got the cheapest one?

Nah, it's the same way on the top end one too. You just have a shitload of channels, apparently.

There is a bunch of cool free shit: NASA, Hubble HD, Nuclear Blast, Roxwell, Pandora, etc. I couldn't resist. I think they should make it so you can scroll up and down as well that would be much faster.

I did that when I first got it. Now I just use Netflix, Amazon Prime and Plex.

I mainly use Netflix and Hulu, but I do watch the Hubble HD and Nuclear Blast channels frequently..... and Revision3 because with that I can watch EpicMealTime in HD.
