Default My Decibel Guitar dB1 Build Thread!

I originally got to play Darren's prototype at Periphery's last show in Toronto and i have to say i was really taken aback by not only how beautiful the guitar was both aesthetically and tonally, but how creative and unique some of the design elements were.
So after much talk and geeking out over specs and the like, i give you the dB1 build thread!

Ideally Darren is trying to have this finished and ready to hand off to me at the Toronto Show we are playing on March 29th (with Fair To Midland and Scale the Summit) So that i can pick it up and start playing it that very day, so hopefully that all works out and you can expect finished pics close to that date!

Here is the link to Darren's build blog where you can see pics and progress reports as well as specs.

Congrats-a-lot, man! I'm really excited to see decibel start pumping out stuff for real, and as i posted on Darren's posting on facebook, there's something oddly fitting about the Javelin in your hands. Listening to Periphery and your solo stuff, my mind's eye would much rather imagine it being played on something classy and futuristic like that, than something more regular looking. It just seems like the right thing, somehow.

I'm expecting lots of pics and some clips once you get it

Darren said he had an interested party in one of his guitars. He even said this as I watched the video of you playing his proto, but I didn't put 1 and 1 together

Congrats

Having played the prototype as well, I know exactly what you mean about it I'll be at that Toronto show, too, so hopefully I'll get to see this new one finished as well

Awesome! The first Javelin is one of the most awesome looking guitars I've seen. I'm expecting this one to be equally as cool. Bulb is gathering quite a collection now! Nearly all of his guitars are customs!

More progress!

Control cavity has been cut.

The neck has been cut down from 27" scale to 25.5" scale with a new template that matches the CNC'd neck pocket. Perfect fit!

That glue residue from the CNC jigs will come off when i sand the body.

To test the fit of the neck in the pocket, i like to try lifting the body (very carefully!) by the neck with nothing but the friction fit holding them together. It passed my QA test!
