Voivod meets Cult Of Luna - it's Alchemist time!

    (crossposted from ss.org, sorry lads)

They supported Meshuggah on their recent Aussie tour, so I figure it'd be a good time to start a thread about Alchemist for those who saw and enjoyed them but weren't familiar with their stuff. They hail from Canberra, Australia, and have been around since the late 80's. They started off playing Voivod-inspired death metal but over the years have incorporated more progressive/psychedelic influences. They're on Relapse Records internationally, so picking up most of their back catalogue shouldn't be an issue. For starters I'd recommend either their two disc best-of/rarities compilation Embryonics from 2005 or their most recent album, 2007's Tripsis. Without further ado, clips! (note: nothing off the new album, so try their myspace
