Default Talk about a collection

Well someone posted this on the mylespaul forum and figured I would share, one hell of a collection, he has the 59 standard in there that everyone looks for, they have been known to sell in the 400,000 range latley.

Fuck me...

Why sell it all at once though? Wouldn't he be able to unload them faster by selling them seperately?

Just remember, there are no stupid questions, only stupid people.

Exactly what I was thinking. I'm sure there are guitars in there that most bidders don't really want. I assume the 59 LP would sell relatively fast if he was selling that by itself.

$50,000 shipping and handling alone is ridiculous. A 50-year-old man's yearly salary on shipping and handling.

he should contact somebody like one of those high end auction houses and sell the stuff separately. Would probably make way more than ebay even with commissions.

I dont think so, I actually think his price is kinda high, besides the 59 les paul, most of the other stuff will be maybe 2000 to 8000 range with some maybe hitting 10,000 to 50,000, but when you add it all up I dont think you would even come close to the million dollar mark, maybe 600,000 to 800,000 range.

But it is a very nice and impressive collection. People have done a reverse lookup on the number and it seems to be a music store, probaly going out of business.

did you even look at some of the other pieces? ie: the 4 or 5 50/60's strats, plus the 5 jimi marshalls. there were a lot of old expensive amps too.

Yeah but if I am right they all fall under the 20,000 range, one of the strats are refinished so that hurts the value alot right there. Here is one that was appraised in 2005 and they havent gone up much latley.
Roadshow Archive | 1957 Fender Stratocaster Guitar

The Jimi Hendrix amps are about $6400 for a full stack, as far as I know these prices havent jumped yet, but will once you cant find them anymore.

Adding it up with today's recession/depression economics, I dont see quite a million there, either. If these were still financial boom years, yeah, probably, but not in today's economics. I have a couple of higher priced items I would like to sell, but I'm not going to do it in times like these and take a beating. I'll just wait a few years.
