    Fireworks as a percussive composition?

I was waaaay too drunk to see the fireworks display in Boston last night, but I went to see a display in Danvers tonight, and had a bit of a realization on the drive home. The sound of the mortars launching the fireworks was very reminiscent of the kick drum sound used on many metal albums. I started thinking...for professional pyrotechnic displays, they normally use an electrical ignition system that could be precisely timed, right? And you can control the amount of time between launch and explosion, right? (although I'm sure that would also require accounting for altitude and the amount of time the sound would need to reach ears on the ground) So, couldn't someone set up a display that would be timed properly, with both the launch and explosion sounds set up to make a piece of percussive music, similar to, say, a taiko drum piece? I think that would be awesome to see and hear...especially from close enough to feel it.
