Saw Cruefest 2 Saturday night, pretty killer show, downside is I missed most of Drowning Pool because of rain and bad traffic, but did catch there last song.
Theory of a Deadman were OK, not a huge fan of theres and hardly new any of there songs, Both guitarists sounded OK in the mix, both using oversized recto cabinets and I know one uses a stiletto and I believe the other does too but couldnt make out his rig.
Godsmack were on the money as always sounds wise, but if it wasnt for Sully they would be boring as hell as he is the only one that really moves around alot. Between his playing guitar and singing and running all over the stage, then the drum solo he does with the other drummer, he kept everyone entertained.
As to the rest of the band, well Tony looked like he didnt want to be there but played everything pefectly, but he just looked liked he was either having a major trip or could care less to be there. The bass player always looks tripped out and does his little groove, but that is about it.
Drummer, well he is a local boy from DC area and he played those drums hard, maybe a little to hard, because at the end of the show he got down and he was freaking paper thin, I dont mean like a thin guy, i mean like he has an eating disorder thin, dude needs to eat a little more and possibly a little less drums! But over all he is a damn good drummer.
On to the Crue, as always a good entertaining show, unfortunaly by the time they got on my ears where so shot from godsmack that vince sounded even more like a chipmonk then normal, I guess this is what happens when you get great seats and you get the full blast from the PA.
However Vince was having a good show, singing most of the words when not pointing the Mic out to the audience, moved around alot and just kept it together all night. They also had two hot backup singers that meshed really well with his voice and where solid hot singers!
Anyway since it is the 20 year release of Dr Feelgood (20 years damn do I feel old)they played the album from first song to last in order, once again kick ass performances, Mick messed up some of the solo's but he usually does and plus with his condition you really cant knock the man, most of us would be in bed whinning. His rythem playing was dead on though.
Nikki is Nikki, always a solid bassist.
Tommy couldnt play drums because he hurt his hand, however he was there all night coming out between songs and having a good time and he did play home sweet home on piano.
Speaking of that, after feelgood set, they completly changed the backdrop and played the following songs.
Saints of los angeles
Shout at the devil
Home sweet home
Girls girls girls to close out the show and then Tommy did a little send off rap.
Overall I had a great time, probaly wouldnt have been better if the wife and I werent so tired from house shopping just two hours before the show, we climbed up and down 2 flights of stairs and in ten different town homes, so we were a little worm by the show rolled around.
