I've now listened to the whole album....I think that Broderick had an decent influence here and I think Dave might have really listened to him. There's times on it where I'm remembering it's Megadeth and not Nevermore. There. I said it.
i'm only half-way in..... and it's not bad... but dave needs to ditch this 'start stop' riffing and just right rockers that cruise from beginning to end, like Tornado of Souls. I can't head bang when he's doing all this [what he thinks is]clever 'punctual' crap every two bars.
that, and they need a drummer who can actually haul ass on the kick drums - give me some van williams / lombardo / grooves, at least ONCE? Drover is not giving us ANYTHING that's relevant to today's metal drumming.
ok, just when through some more listens... the star stop riffing isn't as frequent as i thought it was going to be - but the drumming is still uninspiring to me, and the riffing kicks all kinds of ass
This is the best Megadeth has sounded in over 15 years. The riffs, leads, and solos all sound excellent. I personally love Chris Broderick's lead guitar style. Sounds great so far. :yesway:
I just got it and listened to it once. Pretty awesome. I'm sure I will like it even more w/ more listens.
