The White Stripes are totally not my normal sort of thing, but lately...
I blame my sister. When she moved to Utah about two years back, she was listening to a lot of White Stripes and took "I Get Lonely, But I Ain't That Lonely Yet" as the theme song for her move. Then, when we were in Nova Scotia last year, she took a copy of the just-released Icky Thump with her, which was one of only a handful of CD's we had with us, so it got listened to a ton.
And you know, they really grew on me. Jack White is actually a hell of a songwriter, a surprisingly good guitarist (I think if he ever wanted to he'd be a hell of a blues player, but he just seems to get off more on the atonal/whacked out shit), and the White Stripes are one of the most interesting rock bands out there these days, IMO.
I fully expect to get flamed for this, but whatever.
