It's terrible that people go to these lengths to create a song. Sure, a little pitch correction and a few punch-ins is alright, but this is absurd!
That's pretty commonplace these days, unfortunately. In this genre of metal, it's almost a requirement. We don't go quite that bad with ours. The drums get fixed to the grid and sample-replaced. To be honest, he's not far off before editing/sampling, but the difference between almost and 100% is massive. With guitars we don't do really any fixing, but we'll punch in some really short sections sometimes to make sure the notes ring out clearly, etc. and with my bass tracks I can usually nail it in two or three long takes with a couple small punch-ins.
