Well, I took the RPM Challenge and managed to write, record and mix a new album in three weeks, called The February Project. I've posted it at my Bandcamp site: Council of One
The scary thing is that it turned out far better than I'd expected. I'm really quite happy with it, whereas I'd gone in pretty much expecting to just do a quickie jam thing for shits & giggles.
For fun, I made extensive use of my Roland GR-33 guitar synth on this one. The "saxophone" and "violin" solos were done using the GR-33. This has given me the guitar synth bug, and I'm going to invest in an Axon AX100 Mk II MIDI guitar converter that should provide better tracking than the GR-33, as well as access to the superior sounds in my Yamaha Motif. Getting away from all-guitar textures and arrangements is very liberating, actually.
I encourage everyone to do the RPM Challenge next year--that means you, Drew! It was a much-needed kick in the butt for me.
Fucker. I'll check it out later on tonight, and expect my mind to get blown.
