Same for me, I used to record songs on the radio, and Christian Woman used to get played a lot. I remember finding a tape somewhere around 2000 or so, and had to google to figure out who it was, that tape was from like 94 or 95

To be honest, Type O came out while I was away from metal for awhile, and I'm only familiar with Peter from the track he sang on Iommi's solo album. I was extremely impressed with him just based on that track, however. He was a true original. RIP.

RIP.

I first discovered them via a compilation album that came with an issue of Metal Hammer when I was about 13, and got the 'October Rust' album very shortly afterwards, which ended up being a favourite for a long while. After that I was hooked.

It's unsurprising given the state of his health recently, but still extremely sad, given that he came across as an extremely intelligent, witty individual when he was on form.

"The greatest power one may possess -- in any situation -- is simply not to care what happens.

"In fact, it's the only power, all others being a semblance and mockery of it. But you must also not care about possessing the power itself. So fuck it."

Lacuna Coil dropped out of the Tempe show in August that year and my old band Cast of Shadows took their place. We were the only opener for Type O and it was my first time playing metal in front of over 1000 people.

I got to meet the guys in Type O and all of them were really cool and down to earth. One of them had his wife and 4 year old daughter with him on tour.

I was a big fan of them around the Bloody Kisses / October Rust days. This is sooooo sad. Peter Steele was the shit man, he was such a great personality. Their music was always a trip, it was either heavy and dense or it was funny and dense, if that makes sense. So sad

I used to be in band called Chapelblaque that was so influenced by Type O it wasn't even funny. They played a church here about 10 years ago (Lithunian Hall). It was first time I've ever seen fake snow live, I'll never forget that. His vocal performance in "Haunted" still floors me to this day.

He will definitely be missed.

Yep, me too. there was a period there where all my riffs were dense, chorused, gainy, detuned dirges. Heh. Good times. I've been on a Type O kick the last few weeks, too. It was so strange... when I saw the news, I didn't even feel surprised. It almost seemed inevitable, especially since I've been talking about him so much lately.

RIP, man.
