I Wish I Was Your Lover.

Ok, here's why I posted this. I'm actually debating doing a cover of this. I've already transposed and arranged it for a kind of metal treatment, just kind of fucking around with it this morning, when I woke up early with a mild hangover. Forgot all about it, but heard it on the radio the other day and just kinda wanted to hear it again. Should I actually cover this? I'm not sure my man cred can handle it.
Now, obviously, I'd change the gender specific terms to be masculine. Ain't gonna sing about being anybody's fuckin' "mother." Heh. But, points to consider -
A) I like the song. It's cool, catchy, good chorus
B) I can sing it pretty well
C) I like 'erotic' kinda groovy music, like Sade n' shit
D) I like singing to chicks. Call it the inner Prince
I just don't know about this one. I can picture my (highly sarcastic) guitar player's face tonight at practice if I pull this gem out. Oh Lord.
Do it. I had actually never heard the song before, so I looked up the lyrics. Strangely enough, a few of those verses already seem like they could have come out of a metal song. It always makes me laugh when metal bands cover songs like this. Of course, if it's done well, I stop laughing.
Oh, yeah, and I think you need some guys in black leotards dancing around behind you as you sing. You know, for your man cred.
