    Fifteen years ago today...

Frank Zappa died. Not only was he a genius of a musician but he will forever be my hero for the stance he took trying to keep those PMRC bitches aways from music.

    RIP Frank

As always, don't eat the yellow snow.
The only proof he needed for the existance of God was music.

We were singing some Billy the Mountain last night at practice. Frank is surely missed!

Spun Inca Roads and some of the first half of Joe's Garage last night, coincidentally. He'd probably go insane if he was still around today.

He'd have a lot of inspiration for new material, that's for sure.

RIP Frank. You are greatly missed.

I've been on a huge Zappa kick lately. Even to the point of cycling through a bunch of SGs looking for one that helps me get the deep, sinister honk Frank was getting on the Shut Up 'N Play Yer Guitar album, especially "Five-Five-FIVE", which has to be one of the most amazing solos of all time. I recommend that album as a first choice to anyone interested in hearing his guitar work.

Check out Dweezil doing the Zappa Plays Zappa thing, if you get a chance.

Here is some amazing vintage Frank:

Frank died on my birthday, so every time I pick up my guitar I'm prompted to think God might have traded him in for a lemon RIP.

Open Fist in Hollywood have extended their performance schedule for the "Joe's Garage" production, in case anyone's interested. Gail Zappa was a consultant on the productionand from all accounts it's faithful to the vision of the original. They use performance footage of Frank playing "Watermelons In Easter Hay" though as apparently Frank stated in his will that he didn't want Gail to let anyone else peform or record it. Seems strange, as I thought "The Black Page" was listed too but that's never stopped anyone, as far as I can tell.

Something else I noticed - "Peaches En Regalia" was just nominated for a Grammy, anyone have any idea what prompted this?
