First night of the tour. Trenton, NJ. Doors were at 4, and there were 6(!) local openers before the first supporting act went on, Conducting From the Grave. Deathcore guys, all pleasant folks, but Deathcore isn't really my scene. Powerglove only got a 30-minute set, but they made the most of it. They have a really niche market, and play to it fantastically. Everyone knows the teme to Mortal Kombat, right?
Arsis was, frankly, mindblowing. Tiny room, maybe 40 people there, nowhere near filled, got to be right up front.
Both guitar rigs were JCM900 Hi-Gain Dual Reverbs with a TS9 and a Decimator direct in, bass rig was an SVT Classic into a wacky cab, 4 6" speakers and a 12".
Arsis' setlist was really the best anyone could have hoped for in an hour.
A Diamond for Disease
Forced to Rock
A March for the Sick
We Are The Nightmare
The Sadistic Motives Behind Bereavement Letters
The Hopeless Truth
The Face of My Innocence
If anyone's on the fence about hitting up one of these dates, go for it. One of the best shows I've ever been to. I was feeling really sick this morning and almost said "fuck this" and went back to bed. Thankfully, I said "Fuck it" and went. You would do well to do the same. All the guys in Arsis are top-class blokes, as are the guys in Powerglove. Their costumes rule, too.
Fuck that is an amazing setlist
I'm pretty unashamed of being a mega Arsis fanboy , I will catch them in Salt Lake on the 8th.
Bereavement Letters is one of my all time favorite Arsis songs, so its sick to know they are playing that!
