You have to love youtube for it's endless supply of absolute fucking morons.

Anyway, I've no idea how the hell he manages to do all that whammy work and never, ever end up with any ghost notes. If I did half of that stuff, you'd hear every other string at the same time.

One guitar I'd love to get my hands on is a JS series.

I've never gotten the hang of that divebomb squeal he does. I just can't find the harmonic he's hitting. I don't think it exists. I think he's just one step beyond mankind and can make a harmonic wherever the fuck he wants to because he's him.

There MUST be some way to harnass that vast untapped power...

I figure it must be years of repetition, coupled with a solid amount of gain. I can do it 75% of the time when I'm not playing anything else, but when I'm playing a lick and then try to go into a harmonic scream like that, I can never seem to pull it off.

I guess it's a good thing, I figure I'm enough of a Satriani fanboi as it is without copping one of his signature moves.

This is my favourite Satriani track:

And regarding his harmonic squeals, it seems to me that it's a lot like Dimebag's squeals, only done at the opposite end of the string. Joe does it with a pinch harmonic, and Dime did it by tapping the harmonic with his fretting hand.
