So after a year long search, I finally found some good drummers. Two good drummers to be specific. The problem is i'm having trouble deciding which one I want to keep because both of them are great drummers, and really down to earth guys (isn't that an oxymoron? ). I'll give you guys a break down of the pros/cons of each and just looking for some opinions.
Killer drummer, doesn't know much about theory or actual names, but he kept up and played all of my material great, even my off the wall time stuff. His kit is a bit lacking, but he's getting a very nice kit soon, he potentially has a place to practice at nights, and also potentially has a bassist(which I also need). This guy is into the same music as I am, a big metal head, and his influences pretty much fit what i'm trying to do. His work schedule is kind of hectic so that will make it a bit more difficult for live shows, he's also a bit older than us, so I don't know if he Really wants to try to do something like we do. This guy is the "I can't practice at home, gotta get it right at practice" type of drummer also.
Also killer drummer, beautiful sounding kit, knows a bit about theory/technical names and willing to learn as much as he possibly can, has a Very good knowledge on how to tune drums (don't see that often, first drummer i've had that I didn't have to tune). He's around me and my singer age, also a really cool guy, he had trouble with One song but it was an off the wall timed riff its a 3/4s riff, and it starts over in a really strange place. This is the type of drummer that will take it home, practice and pick it apart and be Ready to play it right when we practice again. He has been a bit sheltered music wise But I don't think that is a bad thing, he's coming in with an open mind, and isn't biased by being a picky ass about music like me and my singer are. His work schedule works better with our schedules, however we'll still have to find a bass player which are also pretty scarce around here. Even though he got the one part wrong, he seemed to have more groove and dynamic feel than the other guy...but I don't know if it was just because his kit was so badass and the first guy's kit is junk(temporarily). He pretty much read me like a book and felt the song changes almost seamlessly...the first guy also did this, but it was something about this guy that was different. Its almost as if I thought this guy was a pro, or with me and my singer pushing has the potential to play as good as a pro.
