Default Signed with a new label, album on iTunes, etc.

Not that this exactly counts as "making it," but my band signed with a European metal label, so I'm expecting all kinds of amazing endorsement deals to start rolling in. No, really!

Anyway, we signed with a Greek indie back in 2004, put out an album in 2005 (that the label "tinkered with" to disastrous results) and then were left unsigned when the label tanked in 2006, just after they hooked a new distribution partner that actually was getting our CD into North American stores. Weak. Rather than try to immediately find a new label, we took our time writing and recording, and last fall started casually shopping the in-progress album to a few small labels. We all have day jobs that no record deal or touring can replace in this day and age, so we opted to set very realistic goals. So, we signed with another Greek indie. Why not, right?

The label announced our signing on Sunday, the album hit iTunes and Amazon yesterday, and now we're just hoping that the actual CDs get to us in time for our first gig in seven months. Having been down this road before, I'm just trying to figure out how to react. I know that my immediate celebration plans call for working out, spraying weed killer on my lawn, and taking out the trash.

Might get brave and clean out the cats' litter box too.

I read this first and thought Crooks was using it as a metaphor for the music industry. Cat = Music Industry, Litter = Bands.

Congrats Ryan!

You need to post here (and post pictures of your sweet Jacksons) more often.

(I don't have iTunes myself, but it's there.)

I also co-produced the new album of another Sleaszy Rider Records band, Cold Colours, and played several solos on it, but I had to cut short my involvement to focus on my album when it started running behind schedule. I'd like to start doing more production work with local bands, but I suppose I better start on the next UE album.
