An evening with Donnie and Charlie Drown

So, Donnie sends me a PM telling me that he's coming here with Charlie Drown. Now, I have 3 Charlie Drown CDs and love them all. I think she's fantastic, and of course I want to meet Donnie.

The problem is that they're here on a Wednesday night, which is the busiest night at work for me. So I beg and plead to have the night off, and I get it.

Donnie said they were playing at The Hop, which I assumed was The Cretin Hop. I got there about 5:30, when load-in was supposed to happen, and the place is a total shit hole. Worse, there's a padlock on the door. So, I wait half an hour. Still no Donnie, so I went to get something to eat.

I finally get another text from Donnie that I'm on the list, and he hopes I didn't go to the wrong place like they did. They had to call their promoter to get the new address. I got the address too, and went there.

I introduced myself to Charlie on the way in and she told me where Donnie was. Upstairs, drinking PBR of course.

I get upstairs and find Donnie. What a cool guy. We hung out before the show and talked about gear, the forum, or whatever.

    I know, I know.

We head back downstairs and see Charlie at the merch table. I have to have a shirt, so I buy one. I'm such a fanboi I can't help but blabber on like an idiot. In spite of this, she agrees to have her picture taken with me and my new shirt.

Looking back, I probably should've gotten the one with the pentagram on it, but what's done is done. I also picked up a couple more CDs. Of course, I had to have a picture with Donnie.

How could I possibly resist the lure of the Stryp-o-verse? Fucking seriously, pictures do not do this guitar justice.

It was really dark in the club, so I didn't take many pictures of the show because I didn't think they'd turn out. This one did, though:

I had a great time, and the show was awesome. I have 5 Charlie Drown CDs now, and I totally dig her music. Seeing it live was awesome.

I also got a CD of Donnie's latest project, so I'm looking forward to hearing that.

My wife was NOT impressed with my shirt or my fanboi attitude about Charlie. Oh well, can't win 'em all.

You should have totally painted your nails to match Donnie's!
