Johnny Rotten is an overrated, talentless hack

Division: American Metal without the suck.

    So live for today,
    Tomorrow never comes.
    Die young, die young,
Can't you see the writing in the air?
    Die young, gonna die young,
    Someone stopped the fair.

    No arguments here...
"The greatest power one may possess -- in any situation -- is simply not to care what happens.

"In fact, it's the only power, all others being a semblance and mockery of it. But you must also not care about possessing the power itself. So fuck it."

i dont think he would disagree nor be offended by that.

I think if people are spending time saying that he is anything other than 'ok' he is succeeding.

He's a punk rock musician. You just have to take them for what they are.

I think he's perfect for what he did in the Pistols. PIL, not so much.

Punk at that time was about angst, and raw emotion, which he delivered perfectly. His delivery of the lyrics fit the content to a tee. I've said this before, but a good singer, or a good guitar player, or whatever, does not have to be technically good, they need to make an emotional connection with the listener. I would argue that Rotten did that extremely well. Can he sing? I don't think that matters, but no, I don't think he's a good singer. To me, it's not different than a death metal "singer". Can they sing? No, but that's not the point, the vocal delivery fits the music, and (when done right) makes an emotional connection with the listener.

The worst thing about Rotten is that he's probably the reason MegaDave thinks he can sing!
