...and it felt pretty good.
Basically, while I've wanted to start another band forever, I came to terms with the fact that right now I just don't have the time to pursue that seriously, between work, the CFA (something else I did last night - signed up for Level II), and trying to work on my album on the side. At the same time, I really miss playing live and I feel like I've always been a better guitarist when I've been on stage regularly than when I haven't. So, this seemed a pretty obvious solution - there's a Sunday night 4:30 to 8 blues jam at a bar a 20 minute walk from my place, so I finally got around to checking it out.
Everyone sort of has that dream of walking in, taking a solo, and having the whole place go, "holy shit, who IS that guy?!?!". Last night didn't go down like that, alas, but I felt like I held my own, managed not to totally overplay and shred up a 12 bar blues, and had a great time. I'll definitely keep doing this.
Getting out of the bedroom and onto the stage makes anyone and everyone get better
Plus, it's great fun.
