Seriously, how many people can alternate that fast, that cleanly? Michael Romeo? Kiko Loureiro? Jason Becker when he was 19? Yngwie? I mean, really, it's just insane fast.

God of a player. The thing I love about Paul Gilbert is his versatility too. He can just do everything from alternate picking, to legato, to sweeps...you name it. Plus he's the coolest teacher to go with it. And for some reason when I watch him it actually makes me want to pick up my guitar and improve and learn moreso than with any other player.

Totally this. Everyone else makes me want to give up but he does it in a way that communicates "this is totally doable, so you have no excuse"

That's from his Terrifying Guitar Trip instructional. I still have that on VHS tape somewhere. Awesome video.
